In addition to the annual festival, IDFA is active throughout the year with public programs, supporting new documentary projects and new talent, raising awareness for persecuted filmmakers, and establishing educational programs. The VPRO is one of the main sponsors of the festival.


Together with the creative team of the VPRO we sat down one afternoon to brainstorm about the idfa campaign. The copywriter came with the idea ‘Verhalen die je ogen openen’. At one point the idea was how the combine documentaries with it,s visitors. Things went pretty fast from there. From a group of people in the cinema watching a documentary, to people visiting Tuschinski (the home of idfa) walking by posters of documentaries. But the main thing was interaction. So the idea was born to put visitors in front of the screen and let them become part of the documentary. How it opened there eyes literaly on a part of a scene from a documentary.


The campaign was nominated for the Promax Awards Europe 2020 - Best Integrated Marketing Campaign For a Channel, Network or Platform.
